Wisdom of the Psalms: A Testament to God's Faithfulness
Ever pondered why the journey of faith tends to lead through valleys of uncertainty before ascending to peaks of divine assurance? We've found ourselves lost in those valleys, wrestling with doubt and the ever-present question: "Will God come through for me this time?" This episode is our testament to the fact that, yes, He indeed does.
Here, we unravel the threads of our personal narratives, sharing experiences of how we encountered God's goodness when we dared to trust in His timing. We delve into the profound wisdom encapsulated in Psalms 27:14, and the audacity it takes to "wait for the Lord." We grapple with the paradox of surrender as a form of strength—how laying down our worries translates into picking up peace. Through our stories and reflections, we extend an invitation to you: To taste and see the goodness of God, to bravely wait for His divine orchestration, and to find courage in His unfailing faithfulness. Whether you walk steadfastly in faith or are simply searching for spiritual solace, we hope our conversations shed new light on your understanding of faith and resilience.
Love you, lord, though. Your mercy never fails me. In all my days, i've been held in your hands From the moment that I wake up until I lay my head. Oh, i will sing of the goodness of God. In all my life, you have been faithful. In all my life you have been so, so good. With every breath that I am able, oh, i will sing of the goodness of God. I love your voice. You have led me through the fire in darkest night. You are close like no other. I've known you as a father. I've known you as a friend, and I have lived in the goodness of God In all my life. You have been faithful. In all my life you have been so, so good.
Speaker 1:With every breath that I am able, oh, i will sing of the goodness of God. Your goodness is running after it's running after me, with my life laid down. I'm surrendered. Now. I give you everything Is your goodness is running after. It's running after me. Your goodness is running after. It's running after me. Your goodness is running after it's running after me With my life laid down. Surrender now. I give you everything. Everything is your goodness is running after. It's running after me, and all my life you have been faithful, and all my life you have been so, so good. With every breath that I am able, oh, i will sing of the goodness of God. Yes, i'm gonna sing of the goodness of God.
Speaker 2:Hi and welcome back to this week's episode of HFC. Sorry if it started weird or was different, just.
Speaker 1:I don't know.
Speaker 2:I felt the need to do that for someone and I did have a specific person in mind, and I just hope they find peace with that. Anyway, this week's verse is actually from the verse of the day from the Bible, just because it also was just like wow. The verse is from Psalms 27, 14, and it says wait for the Lord, be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. There is nothing insanely like difficult to understand about that, but it is difficult to enact, it is difficult to live out and to follow, because there are so many times where either we're physically not waiting for the Lord or mentally not waiting for the Lord, because our thoughts are running way ahead of whatever situation we're in and we're planning things out and planning things out and trying to figure things out and understand what's going on when, in all things, we're supposed to be trusting in God. And I'm not saying it's an easy thing, i'm just saying it's a thing that we're supposed to do. The Bible says wait for the Lord, be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. There's verses that says all things work together for the good of those who love Him. And I'm not necessarily saying that every situation is good, and every situation is something that you ever imagined yourself going through, or a situation you thought you would go through, or something that you wanted to go through, but that in the end of all these things, that those who love Him, those who wait on Him, those who seek and desire Him, they will be fulfilled through Him. They will be fulfilled to the identity that they have with Him. They will be fulfilled in life through whatever crisis they're going through. It may not end in the way that they thought it would, but they will have fulfillment, they will have peace and they will have joy. They will have those fruits of the Spirit that you cannot take from someone who is in Christ, but that they can give away if they're not following what Christ calls them to do and if they're not following what Christ has told them to do. I just trust in God in all things. He hasn't failed us yet.
Speaker 2:I know that there's that one song, walking Around These Walls. I don't remember the lyrics, but it's like You Have Never Failed Me Yet. It's like that's such a negative way of thinking, but that's the way that I think. That's the way that I do things In my mind. It's very hard for me to change my habit of saying nothing is permanent. Nothing changes. People will always disappoint you. For me, the best thing that I can do right now, and possibly the best thing that you can do right now, is to not say Oh God never fails me. Because for some of us and honestly for most of us it's difficult for us to imagine, it's difficult for us to say no, but for us to have it hard, yes. Possibly Maybe a stepping stone for you could be saying You have not failed me yet.
Speaker 2:It would be a betrayal on my part to begin doubting you when you haven't proven me otherwise. It would be a betrayal on my part to begin thinking that I need to do this on my own when you have not shown me that you will ever leave me or forsake me. And so, even though those fears and worries are in your mind or in your head like I know that they sometimes come from me you have to tell yourself like you spend most of your life in the world judging things as you've experienced them. And so maybe you can't say, oh, my God has never failed me or is never going to fail me, but you can say he hasn't failed me yet And if you can live on the truth of that, because one of the verses that's coming to my mind is the Lord is saying taste and see that I am good. I don't know the verse word for word, i'll include it on the outro, but it's he says to taste him and see that he is good. And so that's the thing that is to me.
Speaker 2:People think, oh, you can't test God and you can't, you shouldn't, you shouldn't be testing God. But that doesn't mean that we don't already have experiences, that we've been through where we've tasted God, in those situations, where we've had experience with God in those situations, and he has been good and he has been faithful and he has loved us and he has brought in peace, and God has through the situations are given us forgiveness and mercy. And so maybe you're not at the point where you can say that God has never failed me, god will never fail me. But can you at least admit that he has never failed you yet? And if you can do that, if you can just say he has not failed you yet, then meditate on this first, wait for the Lord, be strong and let your heart take courage, wait for the Lord, know that he is faithful, that he has never forsaken you, that he will not forget you, that he is there and that there is something coming, that he sees you in this situation and he is there with you in the situation. Wait for him, wait on him, take heart, be courageous, because you know that the Lord, your God, is with you.
Speaker 2:I'm not saying the situation is not scary. I'm not saying that the situation is not difficult. I'm just saying, if you can take that idea, that thought of he has never failed you yet, and combine it with this verse of Psalms 27, 14, wait for the Lord, be strong and let your heart take courage. Wait for the Lord, because we know that he has never failed us yet. I may not be able to say that he will never fail me, but even if I'm just doing my worldly thought of thinking on experiences that I've had, i know that he's never failed me. There's never been a time where I'm like God just completely betrayed me and threw me under the bus or something. He has, every step of the way, even on things that I've put myself through, gotten me out of him, forgiven me, giving me mercy and love, and show me time and time and time and time and probably a lot more times, because I'm only 25 and expecting to live to 125 because that's the max age and a healthy, full life, and dying in my sleep peacefully. But there's going to be tons of more times where he's not going to forsake me or leave me, that he has never failed us nor forsaken us, that we can wait on the Lord and be courageous and take heart in knowing that, even if the situation is scary, that I am not alone and we can speak to the situation saying I do not fear you, i rest in the Lord and I feel his peace come over me. I have tasted the Lord and seen that he is good and I know that he is in this situation and that, even in this situation, that he's going to work it for the good of those who love him. Anyways, as always, let's go ahead and end in prayer.
Speaker 2:Dear God, i know that there are situations going around that we don't understand, that we can't see, that we didn't have the foresight to know it was coming And this may be a blip. This may be something we praise You on. This may be something that we struggle through for the next years. This may be something where it's like this isn't even the big thing yet. I don't know, Lord, but thank You for being there with us, for never failing us, for never forsaking us, for always being the one that we can rely on when everybody else in our lives, but even our bodies, fail us. When our bodies betray us, when our minds betray us, when our hearts hurt us, when our flesh betrays us, fails on us, you have always been faithful. You have always loved. You have always given kindness and mercy and peace. You've always been there, loving us. Lord, help us to take heart in knowing that You are with us and learn to wait on You, to be strong and courageous and be strong Because we know that You are there with us.
Speaker 2:Lord, lord, i just thank You, lord, for everything that You've done. Lord, for watching over us, for being here with us even now, lord, even if our spirit doesn't feel like You're here, even if we don't feel like You're here with us, lord, i rebuke that in Jesus' name, lord, for I know that You are here with us. You never leave us. You've given us the whole spirit of truth, the Holy Spirit, so that we would never be left alone, that You are always speaking to us and giving us truths from Your mouth, lord, from You. I love that saying Lord from Your lips to God's ears, lord, because it comes from my lips. But I speak, lord. I know that You're here, for the spirit of truth tells You, lord, and when You speak, i know that I will hear, because the spirit of truth tells me, lord. Lord, i pray that You forgive us of our sins, lead us not into temptation, lord, and just help us to strengthen ourselves by being more in our Bible and increasing our prayer life.
Speaker 2:Lord, in the mighty name of Jesus, amen, hi, and thanks for listening to this week's episode of HFC. So the verse that I was mentioning was Psalm 348. It says Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man or woman that trusts in Him. Have a great week, a great, god bless week. I'll see you guys next week. Thank you, bye.
